Ubi for Enterprise

It’s no secret that the Internet of Things (IoT) and supporting technologies are growing dramatically. You can’t throw a cat without hitting some expert or industry pundit haphazardly predicting the dozens of billions of devices that will be in use over the next few years. While the numbers are staggering, there are other issues that we need to seriously consider when it comes to managing these devices.

Regardless of the number of devices, at some point we’re going to have to grapple with adding content on those devices, how that content is managed, who has access to it and how to maintain control over the safety and security of our data.

UbiNames™ provides the solution to those challenges. Learn More

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a UbiName?

In the wireless world of billions of connected devices, a UbiName is Your Connected Identity. UbiNames can add a splash of personality to all of your wireless devices and distinguish them with your very own sense of flair, style and panache.

Or not - if you choose. Only you control what you share and who can see what you share.

What characters make up a UbiName?

A UbiName is a word, phrase or character combination of between 1 and 32 characters long and can include letters, numbers and special characters except for the tilde (“~”) character.

UbiNames can also include letters and characters from different languages so you can be as unique and creative (eg. Dynamo Debbie ), or as dull (eg. Bob) as you like.

UbiNames are not case-sensitive. Spaces do count as characters in determining the length of your UbiName but they are ignored when creating your UbiName

About Us

Heyo, my name is Scott Smith, founder of UbiNames. Thank you for stopping by.

I’m an experienced entrepreneur and practising ‘Domainer’ from Six Nations of the Grand River near Brantford, Ontario. Since the early 2000’s, I’ve developed and maintained a modest domain portfolio and have been actively involved in the domain business as an investor, broker, blogger, developer and mentor.

Like many Domainers, I’m always on the lookout for new opportunities, whether its buying, selling or developing domain assets, or trying to predict future trends that will enhance my business. When I first learned of the Wireless Registry, I was immediately intrigued with the phenomenon of the Internet of Things (IoT), and how you could register wireless names, link those names to a device - such as a smart phone, tablet, laptop etc., associate content to those names and share it with the world.

Fast forward to the present. I contacted the Wireless Registry and found that they were looking for registrars to sell wireless names to the public. After a few short months, I’m pleased to say that UbiNames is the first Wireless Registry registrar.
